Ford’s futuristic new BlueCruise hands-free driving technology is almost here. Later this year, selected 2021 F-150 and Mustang Mach-E models will get this next-generation system via a SYNC® 4 over-the-air software update.
With BlueCruise, you can drive on more than 100,000 miles of divided highway across North America without touching the steering wheel. Ford did extensive testing on these roads to ensure that the system works safely and effectively — even in bad weather and heavy traffic.
When you’re driving on an eligible highway — known as a Hands-Free Blue Zone — a blue light will activate to notify you. To make sure you’re keeping your eyes on the road, a camera monitors the driver’s seat and warns you if your attention wanders.
BlueCruise is available for F-150 and Mustang Mach-E models that have the Ford Co-Pilot360™ Active 2.0 Prep Package. On top of the necessary built-in tech, BlueCruise software costs $600 on eligible F-150 models. It’s included as standard on Mustang Mach-E First Edition, Premium, and California Route 1 trims.
Ford says BlueCruise will also be available on other vehicles in the near future. To learn how you can purchase an F-150 or Mustang Mach-E with this visionary new technology, contact us here at Jordan Ford in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Now that Ford has introduced the stunning all-electric F-150 Lightning, pickup trucks will never be the same again. Read on for just a sampling of the greatness you can expect from the F-150 Lightning when it arrives at dealerships next spring.
For starters, you’ll get standard 4×4 and 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque from dual electric motors. F-150 Lightning max towing is estimated at 10,000 pounds, or you can haul up to 2,000 pounds.
Two F-150 Lightning battery options give you an estimated standard range of 230 or an extended range of 300 miles, and you’ll be able to charge up from 15 percent to 80 percent in just 41 minutes. Power My Trip and Intelligent Range tech helps you get the most out of each charge.
The F-150 Lightning is so capable, it can even power your home. The all-new Bronco Sport and Ford F-Series are favorites on the road, and Ford’s Q1 2021 sales prove just how much people love them. With retail numbers that exceeded Ford’s 2019 and 2020 sales levels, the automaker’s recent successful first quarter can be partly attributed to the undeniable impact that the F-Series has left on the industry over the last few decades, as well as the breakout success of the brand-new Bronco Sport.
With Ford trucks and SUVs flying off of lots all over Mishawaka, IN, it’s not hard to see why the F-Series and Bronco Sport have gained a lot of attention and love. In the first quarter, Ford sold 203,797 trucks between the F-150, F-250, and other pickups in the F-Series family, marking a 24.5 percent increase at retail. It also shipped 23,356 all-new Bronco Sport SUVs.
Another reason Ford enjoyed such a successful quarter was — and will likely remain to be — its rock-solid and mostly new EV lineup. Ford’s electrified vehicle sales skyrocketed by 74 percent compared to a year ago thanks to new additions like the all-new Mustang Mach-E and the F-150’s new PowerBoost™ Hybrid engine. In Q1 2021, Ford’s expanded electric portfolio resulted in 25,980 vehicles sold, with 6,614 Mustang Mach-E SUVs and 7,176 F-150 models equipped with PowerBoost™ Hybrid powertrains.
Overall, in the first three months of 2021, Ford sold 495,924 vehicles, which is a 1.1 percent increase from 2020. If you’re still not sure why these vehicles are creating a fervor beyond belief, experience them in person at Jordan Ford, right here in beautiful Mishawaka, Indiana.
A recent move by Ford demonstrates just how much the company cares about all drivers — even ones that prefer other brands. In March, Ford announced it was expanding the Ford Telematics capabilities to vehicles from all automakers. By sharing this all-in-one fleet management technology with the entire industry, Ford is committed to supporting businesses and creating a better driving experience.
Ford Telematics helps maintain uptime by providing opportunities for improvement and promotes good driving habits and improved efficiency by scoring drivers as it tracks their driving behavior. This ultimately helps increase productivity across the fleet by giving managers the information they need to provide coaching.
For non-Ford vehicles, fleet operators simply have to use a plug-in device to enjoy full functionality at no additional cost. The Ford Telematics dashboard will provide information about both non-Ford and Ford commercial vehicles, creating a seamless management tool.
Ford also announced that the new Ford Telematics Essentials, a complimentary version of Ford Telematics, will soon be available. Essentials will expand Ford’s presence into the commercial vehicle market by providing free fleet management tools like insights into vehicle odometers, diagnostics codes, and open recalls. Operators can also use the platform to easily schedule maintenance appointments.
When it comes to Ford’s electrification plans, the Mustang Mach-E and electric F-150 are only the beginning. The automaker now plans to pour $22 billion into electric vehicle development through 2025, doubling its previously announced investments. Another $7 billion is slated for autonomous vehicles and tech.
The just-released Mustang Mach-E high-performance SUV is the first part of Ford’s EV plan to fall into place. And later this year, Ford will introduce the E-Transit commercial van.
Next year is the big one: the all-electric F-150 pickup. If Ford can win over truck buyers with an electric option, that’s a sure path to success in the EV era. Pickup buyers here in Mishawaka, Indiana, can already experience a taste of this via the 2021 F-150 and its PowerBoost™ Full Hybrid V6 engine, which delivers enormous capabilities and solid fuel efficiency, too.
After these vehicles arrive, Ford officials hint that Lincoln luxury EVs and more Transit commercial electric models could be next. To handle all this increased EV production, Ford will be bulking up capabilities at its manufacturing plants around the world.
Here at Jordan Ford, we’re looking forward to introducing all these new Ford EV models to the Mishawaka region. For more information on the Mustang Mach-E, the electric F-150, or any other Ford vehicles, give us a call or stop in for a visit.

Recently, Ford announced a new initiative that will help customers save on auto insurance. To this end, the company has teamed up with key insurance carriers, including State Farm, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, Metromile, and Verisk Data Exchange.
These new partnerships will help customers lower their insurance premium based on their driving behavior thanks to built-in connectivity technology on eligible Ford vehicles. And with connected vehicle data, Ford will help car insurance carriers improve their underwriting process and usage-based programs.
Additionally, Ford Insure, which is underwritten by Nationwide, offers usage-based policies through Ford’s insurance agency subsidiary. Back in November at its annual dealer meeting, Ford announced to U.S. dealerships that it had created a new way to shop for and sell pre-owned Ford vehicles. The platform is called Ford Blue Advantage, and it will connect the used inventory of all 3,100 Ford dealerships in the country, including Jordan Ford here in Mishawaka.
With the introduction of Ford Blue Advantage, shoppers will find it easier than ever to locate the exact used Ford model that they’re looking for. Used car customers will be able to access Ford Blue Advantage as a digital platform, where they can shop the nationwide Ford used inventory. In addition to the huge selection of vehicle options open to every dealership location in the country, the platform will also have each item listed with a guaranteed price and delivery cost.
According to Ford Vice President of U.S. Marketing, Sales, and Service, Mark LaNeve, Ford sells roughly 3 million pre-owned vehicles each year. About a third of those sales are made by Ford dealerships across the country. By implementing Ford Blue Advantage, the automaker hopes to make shopping for a used Ford vehicle more appealing than ever, and to increase its used sales nationwide.
We’re excited to see this new option for potential Ford buyers. If you’ve got a question about the Ford Blue Advantage program, contact our team at Jordan Ford.
Ford Motor Company continues to focus on the future with the development of an automated valet parking system that will save drivers time and use parking space more efficiently. The system is getting a trial run in a parking garage in Detroit.
The new system is the result of a partnership between Ford, Bedrock, and Bosch, and is being tested in the Bedrock Assembly Garage in Detroit. Ford Escape crossovers were chosen for the test project. The Escapes were left in a staging area, and then participants sent the vehicles to parking spots in the garage by using an app on their phones. The Escapes were fitted with sensors to communicate with detectors set up in the garage. This allowed the cars to maneuver around obstacles and to move into the chosen parking place. The app was used to retrieve the car later when it was wanted.
This technology is expected to allow 20 percent more vehicles to park in the same amount of space. Ford says that it is easy to add the system to existing infrastructure. Not only will this automated valet parking system save drivers time and frustration, they can also use the app to send the car to plug in for a charge or to get a wash and wax.
Give a head nod to Ford’s commitment to making driving and vehicle ownership more convenient when you test-drive a shiny new 2021 model here at Jordan Ford in Mishawaka.
The first Ford New Norm Mobility Award was given at the New Designers Awards in the UK back in September. Ford Motor Company funded the award to honor progressive mobility concepts focusing on health and safety during the pandemic. The winner of the first-time award was Marius Lochner for Muvone, a self-driving taxi concept.
The Muvone self-driving taxi concept definitely deserved this accolade from Ford. The automaker had been looking for designs that tackled some of the problems with transportation that the COVID-19 pandemic exposed. The Muvone holds one passenger and its simply designed interior is easy to clean between uses. It also presents a workable solution for seniors who are no longer able to drive and who may have mobility problems.
Judges appreciated Lochner’s design for its human-centric approach that focuses on safety, health, and private space. Other projects in the running were an app that optimizes travel routes to avoid unsafe conditions and a vehicle that can switch between a sports car and a pickup truck.
The New Designers Awards is held every year in the UK to showcase the work of students graduating with degrees in design. This year’s awards followed the new norm and were held virtually because of the pandemic.
